Richard Keys has made a new Everton point as the broadcaster tore into Manchester United and Erik ten Hag after their defeat to Tottenham.

While the Toffees picked up their first win of the season as they beat Crystal Palace on Saturday (28 September), United’s struggles continued at Old Trafford as they were well beaten by Spurs.

Ten Hag has come under pressure from pundits and supporters following the Red Devils’ poor start to the campaign and Keys has revealed they have won fewer points from their last 15 games than the Toffees.

Writing on his blog on Monday (30 September) Keys said: “Ten Hag was lost. He didn’t have a clue what to do. Hapless and hopeless.

“He wasn’t a Utd manager when they appointed him. He isn’t a Utd manager today. He never will be. He’s insipid. Weak. Full of excuses.

“There are so many stats that condemn him, but here’s the most damning of all. In their last 15 league games Utd have picked up 19 points. Everton have collected 21.”

Will Manchester United sack Erik ten Hag after Everton revelation?

While the feel-good factor has returned to Goodison Park slightly over the last couple of days thanks to the win over Palace and recent takeover developments, Keys’ latest revelation shows things could be much worse on Merseyside.

The Toffees have looked miles off of the pace so far this season. But even as they’ve struggled to pick up points under Sean Dyche, they have managed to be more effective than one of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.

While the Blues won’t be measuring themselves against the Red Devils this term, it does show that the criticism of Dyche and his side may have been a bit premature.

After all, the new season is just a handful of games old.

Hopefully, Everton will manage to continue to pick up points on either side of the upcoming international break so that they can put a bit of a gap between themselves and the relegation zone.

Although most pundits and supporters are expecting the Blues to dodge the drop into the Championship this term, the Toffees are going to need to put a good run of form together to ensure those fears don’t re-emerge.

In other Everton news, fears around Oliver Glasner’s position have been mooted after Crystal Palace’s defeat to the Toffees
