Manchester United have put together a list of seven alternatives to Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Red Devils have been linked with a move for the Toffees star this summer but are considering other options as well.

That list is not limited to targets within the Premier League, either, with United also drawing up a list of names from abroad.

Jones posted on X (5 June): “Man United have continued to consider Jarrad Branthwaite the top target but have had a host of other names in mind for approach this summer in case he proves out of reach.

“Of interest in England: Guehi and Kilman. Abroad: Todibo, Yoro, Silva, Bremer, Inacio…”

Could Everton keep hold of Jarrad Branthwaite?

If United are indeed considering alternative options, it is possible that the central defender could remain at Everton this summer.

However, that may not prove to be the best outcome for the Toffees.

Everton will want a record-breaking transfer fee for the centre-back – one that exceeds the sum paid by United to sign Harry Maguire from Leicester City.

While the market rate for top young central defenders has seen several players move for similar sums in recent windows, that price tag is also largely down to the Toffees’ need to generate funds to help solve their financial issues.

United’s list of alternatives is likely an attempt to put pressure on Everton to sell for a lower fee – or risk losing the sale altogether.

However, it is also possible that, given the presence of Lisandro Martinez, the Red Devils feel a right-sided centre-half is a more suitable fit – though the list provided does include several left-footed options.

Everton will hope they can secure a fair price for their star centre-back this summer – doing so will have a significant effect on the club’s future.
