Keith Wyness expects Kilman-West Ham twist after offer submitted

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted he expects West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui to push through a deal for Wolves captain Max Kilman.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed the 27-year-old will be an “anchor signing” for Lopetegui.

Football Insider revealed on 23 June that Wolves want £45million for Kilman including add-ons after rejecting an initial offer from West Ham.

The London club’s opening offer was believed to be worth £25million in total.

Kilman only signed a new contract at Wolves last August, keeping him at Molineux until June 2028.

The centre-back was an ever-present for Gary O’Neil’s side in the 2023-24 campaign, playing every minute of their Premier League campaign.

Lopetegui expected to bring Kilman to West Ham as ‘anchor signing’, says Wyness

Wyness insisted he expects a twist in West Ham’s pursuit of the London-born star in the remainder of the summer window.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I think Kilman is very much a key target for Lopetegui.

“He knows the player, he knows his quality in the dressing room – so I think this will be an anchor signing for Lopetegui.

“I’m expecting this one to go through.”

Kilman made 24 appearances under Lopetegui in the 2022-23 campaign before the Spaniard left Molineux 12 months ago.

West Ham have sealed deals for Luis Guilherme and Wes Foderingham so far this summer.

In other news, Irons plan to accept £15million midfielder offer.
