Keith Wyness: Leeds star could join German club in '£50m' deal

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Leeds United could get a fee of “£45-50million” for teenage sensation Archie Gray in 2025.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested the 18-year-old would benefit from staying at Elland Road for another season.

Gray signed a fresh contract at Leeds in January, keeping him at his boyhood club until June 2028.

The Whites will play in the Championship again in the 2024-25 campaign after falling in last season’s playoff final against Southampton.

Football Insider revealed earlier this month (6 June) that Tottenham are plotting a move to sign Gray – while Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have also been linked with the teenager.

Gray could fetch Leeds ‘£50m’ in 2025, says Wyness

The England Under-21 international made 47 starts in 52 appearances last term and was a regular feature at right-back for Daniel Farke’s side.

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Archie Gray is steeped in Leeds, we understand the family and personal connection with the club.

“I think another season in the Championship for him would be great. He will be crucial in getting the club promoted.

“If he left after getting them up, and went overseas, that would be ideal – rather than competing in another Premier League team.

“Germany would be a great move for him. I think he’ll give Leeds one more season to help them up, which would be well-received.

“In terms of valuation, you’ve got to be looking at the £45-50million mark.

“He’s still young but the talent is there, and if he can get through another tough Championship season with another year of experience – he can reach that valuation.”
