Bryan King claims Tottenham could find it “easy” to sign Fulham centre-back Joachim Andersen.
The ex-Spurs scout has suggested the 28-year-old might prefer to remain in London having played for Crystal Palace previously and now Fulham.
As reported by CaughtOffside (19 November), Tottenham, Juventus and Liverpool are all interested in Andersen. This is despite the Denmark international only signing for Fulham from Crystal Palace for £30million this past summer (via BBC Sport, 23 August).
And King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes the defender might have fallen out with somebody at Fulham, which would explain why he is already being linked with a move away from Craven Cottage after only recently penning a five-year deal.
“If he was going to move, I think another London club would suit him,” King said.
“I’m not sure about Liverpool, that sounds as though it is a name which has been thrown in.
“As for Spurs, I’m sure a transfer would be easy because he has already played for two London clubs. However, I find it strange that he would be moving so quickly, perhaps he has fallen out with somebody at Fulham.”
Tottenham to sign Fulham defender Joachim Andersen?
If Andersen has fallen out with somebody behind the scenes at Fulham, Spurs could look to use that to their advantage.
Andersen is an experienced Premier League defender who is comfortable playing out from the back.
As a result, he might be a much better fit for Ange Postecoglou’s squad than the current third-choice centre-back, Radu Drăgușin, who has struggled to adapt to Spurs’ style of play.
In addition, with question marks over Cristian Romero’s long-term future, Postecoglou could even be eyeing up Andersen as a potential first-team replacement.
Therefore, any encouragement in pursuit of a potential transfer can only be a good thing for Spurs.
In other Tottenham news, Jeff Stelling has been left shocked by a “strange” James Maddison development.
