King claims West Ham star could still sign for Tottenham despite £150m transfer claim

Bryan King has suggested that West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen could still one day sign for Tottenham.

The ex-Spurs scout refused to rule out the forward ever making the move to North London.

As reported by HITC (25 June), the Hammers rejected an approach from Spurs for Bowen, implying that it would take an offer of £150million for the club to even consider a sale.

However, King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has pointed to previous examples to emphasise that a transfer between the two clubs is not impossible.

“No one would pay that kind of money for Bowen,” King said.

“Spurs could probably buy Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney for that figure. This is a fantasy story.

“However, you can’t rule out Bowen ever making the move to Tottenham. Jimmy Greaves went to West Ham and Martin Peters went to Tottenham.

“You don’t get bigger names than that. If those two can make the move, there is no reason why Bowen couldn’t.”

When it comes to rivalries in the Premier League there aren’t many fiercer than the rivalry between West Ham and Tottenham.

As a result, if Bowen were to ever join Spurs, that would not go down well at the London Stadium.

The 27-year-old is a modern-day West Ham legend and it would therefore be a bitter pill for supporters to swallow if they had to watch him play for one of their greatest rivals.

While a move doesn’t appear to be on the cards this summer, you never know what could happen in the future.

Bowen is a top player, and if the Hammers don’t kick on under Julen Lopetegui, he could soon seek a move away.

And if that were to happen, Spurs would no doubt be ready to offer him a West Ham exit plan.
