King expects Man Utd to sign Everton duo for £80m as transfer news emerges

Bryan King believes Manchester United could sign Everton duo Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin for a combined fee of £80million.

The ex-Goodison scout claims the Toffees would be happy with a fee of £80million for both players.

As reported by The Athletic (9 July), internal talks have taken place at Old Trafford about the possibility of signing Calvert-Lewin.

The striker has one year left on his Everton contract and has indicated that he is keen to move.

And King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – has suggested the Red Devils could look to sign Calvert-Lewin alongside Branthwaite.

“I could see Calvert-Lewin moving to Manchester United,” King said.

“Perhaps it will be a double deal. I think Everton would be happy with £80million for Branthwaite and Calvert-Lewin.

“Calvert-Lewin arrived for a relatively small fee, Branthwaite came through the youth system. Therefore, it could be a good bit of business all around.

“However, these players will of course need replacing.”

Will Manchester United sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Everton?

United’s interest in Branthwaite has been long-standing and is one of the main transfer sagas of the summer.

However, their admiration for Calvert-Lewin might come as a surprise to supporters.

Whether or not the Red Devils follow up on their interest in Calvert-Lewin remains to be seen. However, a move for the 27-year-old certainly makes a lot of sense.

Having already made attempts to sign Branthwaite, the club could look to include Calvert-Lewin as part of a package deal for both players.

Selling Calvert-Lewin would make sense for Everton too. It doesn’t look as if the forward is going to renew, and the club won’t want to lose him for free next summer.

As a result, selling him as part of a big-money double deal could be beneficial in the long term.

In other Everton news, the club are to make a transfer decision as a financial concern is mooted.
