Liverpool now confident of signing 'superstar' who's 'really keen' on Anfield move - Romano

Liverpool have been fairly quiet in terms of transfer activity for most of the summer, but things seem to be picking up pace.

The Reds recently announced the signing of Georgia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia, though he’ll stay there on loan this season.

Now, Liverpool are said to be pushing to sign Federico Chiesa, with speculation intensifying over the past few days.

For instance, Fabrizio Romano reported on Tuesday evening that Liverpool and Juventus were in direct talks over Chiesa.

Now, the transfer insider has provided another positive update which suggests the Reds are likely to get this signing over the line.

Liverpool “confident” of signing “super keen” Federico Chiesa

Romano, taking to X, said Chiesa “opened the doors to Liverpool” during talks on Monday as he’s “super keen” on a move to Anfield.

The Italian journalist reiterated that negotiations are under way between all the parties, adding that the Reds are “confident” of a breakthrough.

In addition, Liverpool appear to be frontrunners in the race for Chiesa, as they’re the only club that have formally approached Juve.

What Cristiano Ronaldo allegedly thinks of Chiesa

In an interview with ilbianconero.com earlier this summer, Merih Demiral claimed that Ronaldo was a huge fan of Chiesa when both forward were at Juve.

“Fede [Chiesa] is a top player,” Demiral said. “Getting back into form like in his first season at Juve, when Cristiano Ronaldo was also crazy about him. At the Olimpico, I’m banking on Chiesa.”

However, Chiesa is now surplus to Juve’s requirements, and it looks like he’ll be playing for a different club come the end of the transfer window.

If Liverpool manage to sign him, they’d be getting a “superstar” – as per the Italian media – and better still, he could potentially cost less than £15million.
