Liverpool are “desperate” to keep Mohamed Salah at the club despite reports linking him with a move to Saudi Arabia in the summer of 2025.

This is according to former Man United chief scout Mick Brown who, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, revealed that he expects the Reds to “break the bank” with the offer of a new deal to keep the 32-year-old at Anfield beyond this season.

Salah’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season as things stand, and he will be free to negotiate with foreign clubs come January.

Former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor claimed Salah would “definitely leave Liverpool” after a “record-breaking contract” was agreed.

However, Football Insider revealed that Liverpool remain calm over the winger’s future and believe they will be able to tie him down to a new deal.

Brown has insisted that the Reds would be a different team without Salah and his importance to the team cannot be overstated.

So far this season, since the arrival of Arne Slot, the winger has scored five goals and provided four assists in just nine games, with his impact on the team made clear once again.

Football Insider revealed on 8 September that the Reds are doing “everything they can” to keep their star man at the club, with a “bumper” new deal expected to be offered.

Brown has now echoed those reports, insisting Liverpool will “break the bank” in their efforts to convince him to remain on Merseyside.

I think Liverpool will break the bank in their efforts to keep him,” he told Football Insider.

Of all of the left-footed players who play on the right, he is the best by far. Liverpool without Mo Salah are not the Liverpool we have seen.

He can change the game in a minute. If they’re struggling, they can get the ball to him and he’ll make something happen.

He’s so important to the way the play.

I would think they’d be desperate to keep him.

They will be making every effort to tie him down to a new contract before they let him go to Saudi Arabia for nothing, I’m sure.”
