Man United boss Erik ten Hag is not in immediate danger despite the 3-0 home loss against Tottenham on Sunday (29 September), sources have told Football Insider.
Pressure is mounting on the Dutchman after the humiliation at Old Trafford against Ange Postecoglou’s side.
It is believed Man United chiefs are reluctant to make a snap decision after the result and will stick with Ten Hag for now.
However, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS will demand an improvement in results after a dismal start to the 2024-25 campaign.
The club’s hierarchy backed Ten Hag in the summer and resulting transfer window, and will therefore not make a kneejerk decision on his future.
United sit 12th in the Premier League table with seven points from the first six games of the new campaign.
Man United chiefs stick by Ten Hag for now after Spurs defeat
The defeat against Tottenham was already the third of the season – while the Europa League campaign started with a 1-1 draw against FC Twente last week.
Gary Neville insisted the first-half display on Sunday was “absolutely disgusting” and felt it would spawn “a lot of questions to answer for that group and the manager in the next week”.
Captain Bruno Fernandes was sent off in the first 45 minutes and will now miss games against Aston Villa, Brentford and West Ham.
United and Ten Hag take on Porto in the Europa League on Thursday (3 October).
