Loan-to-buy route emerges as Euro club want to sign Rangers star - report

Cagliari could try to sign Cyriel Dessers from Rangers in a loan deal with an obligation to buy next summer, according to Football Italia

Writing on their website (9 July), the news outlet report that the Ibrox club want £4.5million to allow the Nigeria international to leave after just one season at the club but the price is too high for the Serie A club.

So a compromise could be found with a loan-to-buy deal, although it is still unclear as to whether Rangers would be open to such a deal.

Rangers to allow Cyriel Dessers to leave on loan?

Dessers has struggled to win the love of the Ibrox crowd since arriving last summer, but his goals were very important for Philippe Clement.

But with fans not too fussed whether he comes or goes, being able to sell him on to bring in fresh cash to bolster the squad is something the club are likely to be looking into.

However, a loan deal would surely not be of any use to Clement as it would see him lose his top goalscoring attacker and bring in limited funds while having to wait to replace him.

Danilo should recover from injury and be able to play a part in 2024/25, while Hamza Igamane has a bright future and could shock some people with performances.

Dessers could well be on his way out this summer, but it would have to be a deal that makes sense for Rangers more than anyone else and this wouldn’t be it.
