Man United striker Joshua Zirkzee has taken to social media to bid farewell to Ruud van Nistelrooy after his recent dismissal.
New boss Ruben Amorim, 39, decided against keeping the former striker on as a member of his background staff despite his impressive tenure as interim manager.
Van Nistelrooy, 48, was unbeaten in his four games in charge, winning three and drawing one across all competitions.
Amorim will take charge of his first game once the international break is over, an away trip to newly promoted Ipswich Town.
Joshua Zirkzee struggling to adapt at Man United
Zirkzee has failed to live up to the hype since joining from Italian side Bologna in the summer transfer window, scoring just one goal in 17 appearances across all competitions.
According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, the 20-time Premier League champions are already planning on cutting their losses by letting the striker leave in January with Juventus interested.
He remains a United player for now, however, and took to Instagram to thank his fellow Dutchman for this time at the club.
Zirkzee is currently with the Netherlands squad as they prepare to face Hungary and Bosnia and Herzegovina in their two pivotal UEFA Nations League clashes.
Things will be a lot different once he returns to Carrington, with new manager Amorim due to take on Ipswich Town in his first game as Man United manager.
