'Over' - Simon Jordan takes jab at Graeme Souness as Philippe Clement faces pressure at Rangers

Simon Jordan has taken a jab at Graeme Souness amid Philippe Clement’s struggles at Rangers, with the club in third place.

The talkSPORT host claimed that Souness was taking credit initially when things were going well for the Belgian, but has now gone quiet when he’s feeling the heat.

Gers go into the game against Aberdeen at Pittodrie on 30 October six points off the top of the table and the gap could be nine points if the visitors lose.

Jordan told talkSPORT on 30 October at 11:26pm: “Currently the honeymoon period is over for him. Souness was taking the credit for him when things were going well and has gone quiet now.”

Philippe Clement needs to make big changes at Rangers

Clement finds himself at a critical juncture at Ibrox, where the pressure to deliver results is mounting, particularly with the team sitting six points off the top and facing the possibility of falling nine points behind if they lose to Aberdeen.

In such a scenario, being ruthless with team selection becomes not just a strategic choice but a necessity for survival.

The expectations and scrutiny have shifted from patience to performance, demanding immediate impact.

To turn the tide, the Belgian must now prioritise picking players who can guarantee or at least significantly enhance the team’s chances of winning, regardless of their status or past performances.

This ruthlessness in selection could galvanise the squad, signalling a clear message about the standards required, potentially sparking the needed turnaround in form and results to alleviate the pressure and restore confidence in his management.

Gers fans will be hoping that a win against the Dons could kick-start a run of wins that can help the side close the gap on Celtic.

In other Rangers news, a claim has emerged on Graham Potter taking over at Ibrox after Philippe Clement departs.
