Phil Neville and Kevin Mirallas buzzing over big news out of Everton today

Everton have a busy summer ahead of them as they look to bolster their ranks in order to avoid another Premier League relegation battle.

In addition, there seems to have been a breakthrough on the Toffees takeover front, according to multiple reports on Friday.

According to TNT Sports, AS Roma owner Dan Friedkin looks set to buy Everton after reportedly agreeing a deal in principle for the club.

And that wasn’t the only positive news involving the Toffees on Friday.

Earlier in the day, Everton announced that club captain Seamus Coleman has penned a new contract at Goodison Park.

The 35-year-old, who has been at Everton since 2009, signed a new deal that extends his tenure with the Blues until the summer of 2025.

Coleman has made a club-record 363 Premier League appearances for Everton since joining from Sligo Rovers 15 years ago for £60,000.

Everton took to their socials to celebrate their captain’s new contract at Goodison Park, and plenty of his peers congratulated him in the comments.

The likes of Kevin Mirallas, Phil Neville and Maarten Stekelenburg all expressed their delight via emojis in the comments:

It’s great to see Coleman extend his Everton tenure. He is a bona fide Goodison legend and it’ll be good to see him play for the Toffees for at least one more season.

Surely the Republic of Ireland international is due a statue at Everton’s new stadium a few years down the line.

And with reports of a development on the takeover front, hopefully things will turn round at Everton and next season can bring about some renewed hope.
