Connor Barron, whose contract at Aberdeen ran out at the end of the season is now expected to undergo a medical at Rangers, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper reported via its online edition on 12 June that Gers will turn their attention to the 21-year-old Scottish midfielder after news emerged of Damian Garcia close to a contract extension at Penarol with a £7.7million release clause. [Sport 890, 12 June]

Should Barron join, he will be the fourth signing of the summer following Jefte, Oscar Cortes signing permanently and Clinton Nsiala.

Connor Barron appears to be the backup Rangers target for Damian Garcia

Barron’s imminent medical at Ibrox suggests that the deal is well advanced, indicating a swift move by the club following the news of Garcia’s imminent contract extension at Penarol.

This rapid action implies that the 21-year-old was indeed a backup option for the Uruguayan and Gers wasted no time in securing his services once Garcia became unavailable.

The fact that Barron is already expected to arrive for a medical underscores the club’s efficiency and decisiveness in transfer negotiations.

The quick turnaround from one target to another demonstrates their preparedness and ability to adapt to changing circumstances in the transfer market.

Barron, a promising young Scottish midfielder, could be a valuable addition to the squad, offering depth and potential for development.
