Pundit View: Levy to 'Look At' £25m summer deal for Tottenham-linked attacker

Tottenham chief Daniel Levy will “look at” a deal for Federico Chiesa during the summer transfer window, according to Alan Hutton.

Ange Postecoglou is eager to add to his attacking options ahead of the new Premier League season and has already been boosted by the return to Timo Werner and the arrival of January signing Lucas Bergvall.

Reports in Italy have suggested that the Lilywhites are considering a move for Juventus ace Chiesa who could cost anywhere between £21million and £25million as speculation continues around his future in Turin [TuttoJuve, 18 July].

Although Hutton believes Levy and Postecoglou will have several alternative targets to the 26-year-old, he admits that his lower price tag could make him an enticing option for Spurs this summer.

“Of course, he’s a good player,” Hutton exclusively told Tottenham News.

“He fits into what they want to do because he can fill in multiple positions. He can play number 10, he can play out wide, he can make runs inside the pitch and he can make runs outside.

“He’s one of those players where if you’re a defender you need to constantly keep an eye on him because he’s always on the move and he’s always looking to dart in behind you.

“At that kind of price tag, that is something that they would look at.

“You look at the likes of Eberechi Eze who is going to be around £60million, I know he can play in different positions but it seems that’s where they’re targeting, those kinds of wide areas and people who can come in, make things happen and score goals as well.

“It just depends on how much money they’ve got to spend and what other targets they’re looking for. Are they looking for a number nine? Is Richarlison going to leave? Who’s going to play up front?

“There’s a lot of moving parts and I suppose we’ve just got to wait and see.”

As Hutton suggests, Spurs appear to be eager to add to their wide options this summer and Chiesa would add a different dimension to the attack alongside the likes of Werner and Son Heung-min.

Although the Italian international hasn’t quite managed to hit the heights initially expected of him after he burst onto the scene at Euro 2020, he has still managed to be a consistent source of goals for Juventus over the last few seasons.

Not only could he provide some added depth out wide, but he is capable of deputising as a makeshift number nine.

For a fee in the region of £25million, Levy and Postecoglou may feel they can kill two birds with one stone if they can secure his signature.
