Philippe Clement was left spitting feathers after a moment involving Hamza Igamane in Rangers’ win over FCSB, according to Peter Grant.
The Moroccan forward scored his first goal in Gers colours as the Light Blues coasted to an impressive 4-0 win over FSCB at Ibrox to boost their hopes of qualifying for the next round of the Europa League.
While the striker impressed with his performance, Go Radio pundit believes Igamane drove Clement crazy when he wasn’t ready to enter the field of play when the Gers boss wanted to make a substitution.
Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show (25 October, 19:25) he said: “I’m sure, I’ll probably be corrected if I’m wrong here.
“When Igamane is coming on, he’s not ready and he [Clement] was spitting feathers as if to say why are you not ready to come on the pitch?
“When you’re on the side of the pitch, you’re still a player so be ready because one second all of a sudden we need you and he’s there getting ready, putting his shirt on.
“These are the small details, they’ll be the things that are driving him crazy.”
What has happened to Rangers striker Hamza Igamane at Ibrox?
While Clement will have likely been frustrated by Igamane’s delayed introduction onto the playing field, it really isn’t the biggest issue facing the Gers manager at this moment in time.
Yes, the forward should be ready to enter the field immediately when called upon by his manager, but he ultimately made up for that mistake with his first goal at Ibrox to secure all three points for the Light Blues.
While the Moroccan forward has looked all over the place when he has started in games this term, his displays from the bench have shown that the Gers have a real talent on their hands, even if it is incredibly raw.
Igamane needs to be given plenty of time to find his feet in Glasgow to truly maximise his potential, but the initial signs suggest that he has what it takes to rotate with Cyriel Dessers at the top of the pitch, particularly while Danilo is sidelined.
Hopefully, he won’t leave Clement spitting feathers on too many more occasions.
