Rangers in line for windfall this summer after recent six-figure blow - reports

Rangers are in line to receive a windfall this summer if Leeds United midfielder Glen Kamara is to move to Rennes, according to the Daily Record.

The Scottish newspaper, on 1 July, cited French publication L’Equipe who claimed that the Ligue 1 side are keen on securing the services of the Finland international.

The 28-year-old left Ibrox last summer and Gers included a sell-on clause in that deal and recently missed out on a £500,000 windfall as Leeds failed to secure promotion to the Premier League.

Rangers must reinvest the Glen Kamara money into the first-team squad

The sell-on clause included in Kamara’s transfer to Leeds United provides Gers with a significant financial advantage.

If Kamara is sold to Rennes or any other club, the Ibrox outfit will receive a percentage of the transfer fee.

This can result in a windfall for the club, especially if Kamara is sold for a substantial fee.

The money received from the sell-on clause should be reinvested into the first-team squad as it can help Rangers strengthen their squad and improve their performance in domestic and European competitions.

The club can use the funds to sign new players, improve their training facilities, or invest in youth development programs.

By showing that they are willing to invest in the team, the club can send a message to their players and potential signings that they are serious about competing at the highest level.

Rangers Philippe Clement
Philippe Clement is on the hunt for new players at Rangers this summer.

With Philippe Clement promised a rebuild, the club will be delighted to have additional funds to allow him to use this summer.

In other Rangers news, the club have received offers from a number of English clubs for an in-demand player who’s made his decision about his future at Ibrox.
