Rangers set for crisis talks after Ibrox saga, announcement could be soon - report

Rangers are set to hold further crisis talks this week over Hampden Park and could be there until at least October, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper reported on 7 July that a Rangers delegation visited Hampden last week to have a full tour of the stadium, with an agreement close.

It is said that John Bennett could make an official announcement as early as next week as he looks to keep fans in the loop as the Ibrox saga continues.

Why Rangers can’t play at Ibrox for the opening day of the Scottish Premiership

Following the end of the 2023/24 season, Ibrox was taken under construction as works were carried out on the Copland Road stand.

The construction was only set to take place throughout summer but thanks to shipping delays, the Gers’ absence from their home ground was extended until August.

This whole debacle resulted in the project manager being sacked [Scottish Sun, 20 June] for the part they played and thus began talks about where Philippe Clement’s side could start their 2024/25 campaign [Scottish Sun, 20 June].

However thanks to the latest revelations, it now seems as if it won’t be until at least October that Clement’s men can finally set foot back in Ibrox.

Granted, it isn’t the be-all and end-all that the Gers can’t play in their home ground, but, the Ibrox atmosphere is hard to match.

The boost Rangers fans give their team when at home is undeniable and, especially with all the changes happening at the club this summer, an Ibrox advantage to start their season might have been what they needed.
