Rangers submit 40% loan bid, additional £2.5m+ permanent clause can seal deal - report

Rangers have been told to include a clause to make Joan Jordan’s stay permanent to secure his signature, according to Gol Digital.

The Spanish outlet reported on its website on Thursday (25 July) that the Light Blues have submitted a new loan proposal for the Spanish midfielder where they would cover 40 per cent of his wages.

If the Gers were willing to pay 60 per cent of Jordan’s wages and include a mandatory obligation to buy the 30-year-old for a fee between £2.5million and £4.2million, it would be enough to seal the deal this summer.

Will Rangers sign Joan Jordan in the transfer window amid Sevilla exit speculation?

Rangers are having to wheel and deal a little bit this summer to get transfers over the line as Philippe Clement doesn’t appear to have much money to spend until some players are sold in the coming weeks.

That limits the Gers’ ability to stump up a big fee for Jordan at this moment in time, so an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy could appeal as long as the terms are right for all parties involved.

Clement’s side have used this sort of structure in recent transfer windows to sign the likes of Oscar Cortes and Mohammed Diomande, but they are players at the complete opposite end of their careers to Jordan.

On top of that, the Gers won’t want to be stuck with an ageing midfielder in 12 months’ time if the 30-year-old’s loan move doesn’t work out as expected.

An obligation to buy means they won’t really have a way out of the permanent deal.

Hopefully, Nils Koppen and his recruitment team will manage to negotiate a deal with an option to buy instead of an obligation, that way the Light Blues will have covered their back in case anything goes wrong.
