Rangers to seek talks with SPFL as 'matter of urgency' amid Ibrox chaos - Chris Jack

Rangers will hold talks with the SPFL and potential suitors for their home games at the start of the 2024/25 season in the next days, according to Chris Jack.

Writing on the Rangers Review website (26 June), the journalist reports that there is still no agreement in place for the club to play their home games elsewhere despite Ibrox being unavailable for the first month of the campaign after delays to works on the Copland Road Stand.

With the fixtures released on Thursday morning (27 June), Rangers will only receive the full list just before they are made public and will seek talks with the SPFL afterwards about potential switches and venue changes “as a matter of urgency”.

Rangers fans being let down by Ibrox mess

The SPFL have already made it clear that Rangers won’t be given the benefit of just switching potential home games in August into away games [Daily Record, 26 June], which means the club will be forced to find an alternative venue.

With Champions League qualifiers also taking place the club face the prospect of nine games in August, which means several could then be scheduled for Ibrox.

But with the season only weeks away and no plans currently in place, fans have been let down by the club and face the prospect of being forced to travel across the country to take their seat in a “home” game.

Fans have to be considered properly with whatever the solution is for this chaotic issue, because it’s not fair on them and they are the ones missing out and losing money for this problem.

There is recognition this is a difficult situation to navigate and isn’t really the fault of the club, but this is their responsibility to solve now and they have to get it right or face even more scrutiny.

In other Rangers news, the club are set for a tribunal after a £500k bid was rejected for Connor Barron.
