Report: What sources are now saying about Liverpool and Dani Olmo after Spain star's heroics at Euro 2024
????
Dani Olmo has been one of the stars of UEFA Euro 2024 this summer – and sources have now made a claim about the attacker involving Liverpool.
The Anfield faithful would presumably love to have the RB Leipzig No.7 on Merseyside next season, and based on his efforts in Germany so far this summer, he looks capable of making Arne Slot‘s life much easier at Liverpool with his immense talent.
So, what are sources now saying about Liverpool and Dani Olmo? Let’s take a look…
Liverpool unwilling to trigger Dani Olmo release clause
A story from the Mirror now shares an update on Liverpool and the Spaniard.
It is said that the Reds are currently unlikely to trigger Olmo’s £50m release clause before it expires on Monday, and while Chelsea are also keen on signing the attacking midfielder, the Mirror believe the Blues will also avoid activating the clause.
Liverpool do seem to be in the market for an attacking midfielder this summer, with Steve Kay recently claiming that Anfield is a potential destination for Crystal Palace No.10 Eberechi Eze.
Despite that, interest in Olmo – who scored eight goals and provided five assists in 25 appearances for RB Leipzig last season – does not look set to materialise into anything concrete this summer.
Michael Edwards should be all over the Spain international’s situation
In our view, it would be an oversight from Michael Edwards – CEO of Football at Anfield – to ignore Olmo’s release clause.
The 26-year-old is playing like a man possessed in Germany this summer, although he is no flash in the pan, having proven his quality across many years now.
Pep Guardiola even called Olmo an “incredible” player back in 2021, while the Spaniard has also been compared to Luka Modric as well.
In this day and age, £50m for a player of the Terrassa-born maestro’s quality is a bargain, especially as he is right in the midst of his prime at the age of 26.
That fee looks all the more attractive when you consider the aforementioned Eze has a £68m release clause in his contract at Selhurst Park.
Hopefully, Liverpool reconsider their stance on Olmo before his enticing release clause expires.
