Liverpool have pulled the plug on their interest in Leny Yoro, sources have told Football Insider.
The Premier League giants had shortlisted the Lille centre-back as a key target but their stance has changed after learning the player wants to join Real Madrid.
United have also had two bids for Jarrad Branthwaite rejected in this window, and remain in talks to sign Matthijs de Ligt.
Much like the 20-time champions, Liverpool are in the market for a central defender this summer following Joel Matip’s departure.
The Reds have also turned down offers from German sides Mainz and Wolfsburg this summer for Sepp van den Berg.
Liverpool have valued the 22-year-old at around £20million, but it is unlikely he will depart Anfield unless someone else is brought in.
Liverpool no longer have an interest in Leny Yoro
Despite being in need of cover at centre-back, Liverpool’s pursuit of Yoro has come to an end.
Due to his age and the promise he’s shown, the teenager was regarded by the Merseysiders’ recruitment team as a player who could thrive under Arne Slot.
The Frenchman has already played 46 Ligue 1 games for Lille while also getting European experience in the Conference League.
Liverpool could face another major defensive blow this summer regarding their goalkeeper, Alisson Becker.
In other news, Liverpool make move to sign Crystal Palace star.
