Revealed: Liverpool working on signing No10 who's 'better than Szoboszlai'

Liverpool are keen on bringing Eberechi Eze to Anfield as a potential replacement for Dominik Szoboszlai, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Merseyside club view Eze, 26, as a more ‘creative’ option with a better ‘end product’ than Szoboszlai, 23.

Only two of Liverpool’s 23 goals across all competitions this season have come from midfield, with Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister each scoring one.

Liverpool and Crystal Palace have had completely contrasting starts to the season, yet Eze and Szoboszlai both have two goal involvements.

Palace owner Steve Parish admitted in an interview with Sky Sports that he was ‘astounded’ by the lack of interest in the England international over the summer transfer window.

Liverpool see Eberechi Eze as Dominik Szoboszlai improvement

Despite an impressive start at Palace in the second half of last season, manager Oliver Glasner is still searching for his first Premier League win this campaign after six attempts.

With three draws and three defeats, they find themselves in 18th, facing the very real threat of a fight for Premier League survival if things don’t improve soon.

Still, Eze has impressed; not only is he one of just three Palace players to score in the league so far this season, but nearly every Palace attack goes through him.

The attacking midfielder has touched the ball 383 times, more than any other offensive Palace player, created 12 open-play chances and won 14 fouls.

Szoboszlai isn’t far behind him in terms of chances created with 11, but he pales in comparison with almost every other attacking metric, despite playing for a much better side.

Eze will get his first chance of the season to impress Arne Slot in person on Saturday (October 5) as the two clubs face off at Selhurst Park.
