Roger Hannah doesn’t think Rangers ace Robin Propper is suited to the Scottish Premiership after his performance against Kilmarnock.
Rangers somehow lost 1-0 to Killie on Sunday (20 October) and failed to close the gap between themselves and their title rivals, further increasing the pressure upon the shoulders of Philippe Clement.
Speaking on The Scottish Sun’s Coffee Club [23 October], Hannah shared his verdict on the recent performances of the Dutchman.
Journalist Hannah said: “[Vaclav] Cerny and [Nedim [Bajrami] were away playing for their countries last week; [Mohamed] Diomande is a nice, tidy player. But put them together and their not suited for the Scottish league.
“Robin Propper, 300 games in the Dutch top flight, doesn’t look as if he fancies it here at all.
“He doesn’t look as if he likes Kyle Vassell and Marley Watkins giving him some and if he doesn’t like that. Wait until he meets Kevin van Veen and Mikael Mandron on Saturday afternoon.”
Rangers ace Robin Propper needs to up his game
Propper’s arrival at Ibrox in the summer was one of the most expensive moves of the Gers’ window.
The former FC Twente captain joined the club for a fee worth around £2.7million [Daily Record, 31 July] and replaced Connor Goldson, who now plays for Aris Limassol in Cyprus.
There have been times this term when Propper has seemed like the better centre-back over John Souttar but more often than not, the Scotsman has outperformed him.
While the duo have started to form a solid partnership due to the number of games they’ve played alongside each other this term, it still feels like a lot more can come from the team as a whole.
The Gers’ recent poor performances have brought Clement’s future into question but, if they overcome FCSB on Thursday (24 October) in the Europa League, it would at least be a step in the right direction and would benefit the Belgian’s case of avoiding the sack.
