Chelsea and Man United could agree a sensational swap deal featuring Jadon Sancho and Raheem Sterling, sources have told Football Insider.
The two wingers are both high earners at their respective clubs but are wanted by the other before the transfer window shuts.
Swap deals like this are scarce in football, but both players are surplus to requirements within their current setups.
A swap deal between the Premier League rivals is seen as a transfer that would solve many issues for both, but sources state it is very difficult to negotiate.
Enzo Maresca has publicly stated that he prefers different types of wingers to Sterling, who has been training away from the first team.
Meanwhile, Sancho spent the second of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund after a fallout with Erik ten Hag.
Chelsea and Man United could strike a major deal in the final week of the window
Neither Sancho nor Sterling have played a minute of Premier League football in the opening two games, and they have not even made the match-day squads.
Game time is set to be extremely limited for both England internationals if they remain at their respective clubs this season.
Sterling isn’t the only person who Chelsea are trying to offload this week as their recruitment has led to a bloated 42-man squad being created.
Ben Chilwell and Trevoh Chalobah have both been made available to buy before the transfer window closes.
