The Reds are the only Premier League club yet to sign a player in the summer transfer window, which closes on 30 August.
Slot’s side have seen a move for top target Martin Zubimendi fall through this month, with the midfielder choosing to remain at Real Sociedad.
The Dutchman is still keen to bring new additions to Anfield but sources say club chiefs won’t sanction any moves unless they improve the squad and provide value for money.
Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is the most likely signing for Liverpool before the 30 August deadline, and an agreement is now close.

However, the Georgia international won’t play a key part on Merseyside until the 2025-26 season or even the following campaign.
Liverpool lost Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara and Adrian at the end of their contracts in June – while Fabio Carvalho has been sold to Brentford.
Slot’s side opened the 2024-25 campaign with a 2-0 victory away at Ipswich Town on Saturday (17 August).
The Reds, who will play in the Champions League starting later this year, are next in action against Brentford on Sunday (25 August).
