Tam McManus tells Rangers when they may have to sack Philippe Clement

Tam McManus admits Rangers may have to sack Philippe Clement if they lose against Aberdeen at Pittodrie on 30 October.

The Bears are currently third in the Scottish Premiership and find themselves six points adrift of the Dons and Celtic only two months into the season.

Pressure has only grown since the 1-0 defeat at Kilmarnock on 20 October, missing the opportunity to cut that gap at the top.

Speaking on the PLZ Football Show (21 October), McManus shared his verdict on where the future of Clement lies.

“If Rangers continue losing games then it becomes a decision they can’t afford not to make,” he said.

“They’ve got a huge game coming up a week on Wednesday, Aberdeen away, there’s six points between them now if Aberdeen go nine points ahead of Rangers, coming up to November, forget Celtic I mean Aberdeen, I don’t think that they can afford not to sack him.”

Rangers to make Philippe Clement sack decision

Rangers have been poor this season and have massively under-delivered across the board.

Their inability to win high-pressure games has massively affected their performance in the Scottish Premiership with the Ibrox outfit losing 3-0 to Celtic and now 1-0 to Kilmarnock.

The defeat against Derek McInnes’ men was one of the worst performances of the term and showed the level of ability the club find themselves at.

Cyriel Dessers’ recent lack of goalscoring form hasn’t helped matters much but the fact the Gers are solely relying on the Nigerian international to lead their line shows how under-prepared they were for the season.

Indeed, Danilo’s injury history and Hamza Igamane’s lack of development thus far have contributed to their over-reliance on Dessers but, better planning should have still been carried out.

The game against the Dons isn’t until the end of the month but if they lose that, they can more or less kiss their title hopes goodbye.

In other Rangers news, Keith Jackson has slammed the Gers after their “rotten” display against Kilmarnock.
