'Terrible' - Doctor drops 'Red Flag' claim as Everton favourites for new transfer, approach made

Manchester City midfielder and Everton target Kalvin Phillips is unlikely to have any long-term injury issues, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that while his fitness is at a low and he’s been plagued with multiple setbacks in recent seasons, a summer transfer cannot and must not be written off.

TEAMtalk reported on 30 May that the Toffees are favourites to sign the 28-year-old England international and an approach has already been made.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Phillips:

Phillips has had terrible luck with injuries in the past few seasons and his fitness is at a low.

The argument to sign him may be a combination of intangibles and a club looking to take a low risk/high risk reward on a player who hasn’t found his form for a number of reasons.

As long as his shoulder injury and rehab is on course as planned and no medium or long-term issues are expected, the injury wouldn’t be a red flag.

Everton will be taking a huge risk by signing Kalvin Phillips

The Toffees should think twice before signing Phillips as his recent performances haven’t been stellar.

His loan spell at West Ham was underwhelming, with limited game time and fitness concerns.

Everton, struggling financially, need a player who can make an immediate impact.

Everton manager Sean Dyche

The 28-year-old, once a key player for Leeds and England, has seen his form dip at Manchester City and while Sean Dyche could potentially revive his career, the risk might not be worth it for the club at this critical time.

In other Everton news, a European club are keen to get their striker off their wage bill with a £26million transfer on the cards.
