Everton are still set for “fire-fighting” as Farhad Moshiri struggles to sell his stake in the club, according to Chris Bascombe.

The Telegraph journalist claims that nobody outside Moshiri’s inner circle has a clear idea about the financial situation at Goodison Park.

Guardian on 21 August that John Textor expects to reach an agreement over the takeover by the end of the week.

Bascombe wrote: “The mood darkens when the bad news off the pitch is mirrored by poor performances on it, which is bound to occasionally happen to a side which is built to punch above its weight by optimistically targeting mid-table. A clearer picture of what is realistic possible will emerge by the end of the transfer window.

“Those within Moshiri’s inner circle – and no-one working on Merseyside seems to be part of that – know if the financial situation is such to make further sales necessary. Do the Merseyside branch of the operation trust him? What choice do they have?

“They also know their fire-fighting is far from over and it is Moshiri’s running of the club which has set the agenda for the past eight years, not ‘media scaremongering’ or some imagined Premier League vendetta.

“Until Moshiri sells, Everton’s multiple personality disorder will not be adequately treated.”

Farhad Moshiri is to be blamed for all the mess at Everton

Moshiri’s tenure at Goodison Park has been marked by a series of missteps that have significantly contributed to the club’s current turmoil.

His initial investment promised a new era of success, but his decisions led to financial overreach, with high-profile signings that didn’t pay off and a revolving door of managers, destabilising the team.

Moshiri’s ambition to build a new stadium, while commendable, has been poorly managed, leading to escalating costs without securing adequate financing, which has put the club in a precarious financial position.

His involvement with 777 Partners, which ended up adding debt without resolving ownership, exemplifies his poor judgment in partnerships.

Furthermore, Moshiri’s hands-off approach in recent times, combined with his inability to finalise a sale of the club at a reasonable valuation, has left Everton in a state of perpetual crisis, with fans and analysts alike pointing to his leadership as the root cause of the club’s on-field struggles and off-field financial woes.
