Tottenham have made a bid to sign St Patrick’s Athletic sensation Mason Melia, according to reptracker on X.
As things stand, five to six clubs in the Premier League are interested in signing the 17-year-old, who is valued at just over £800,000 according to the post from reptracker.
Things are expected to proceed in the coming months, however the player can’t move away from the Irish outfit until he turns 18 next September.
Tottenham and their pursuit of Mason Melia
Melia has been at St Patrick’s Athletic since the summer of 2022 and holds the record for being the youngest-ever player to feature and score for the senior team.
The 17-year-old has primarily played as a centre-forward in the current campaign and had the opportunity to showcase his talent on the European stage during the UEFA Conference League qualifiers.
Ange Postecoglou has shown during his Spurs tenure that he’s not afraid to give the youngsters a chance.
The likes of Mikey Moore, Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray, Wilson Odobert and Will Lankshear have all been handed some minutes this season.
When it comes to the number nine position, the departure of Harry Kane has left a big void in the team, and it’s unlikely that Dominic Solanke or Richarlison will ever be able to reach the heights that the England captain set at Tottenham.
However, one thing to remember is that Kane made his way through the youth ranks at the club and the faith shown in the 31-year-old turned him into a superstar.
While Melia still has a long way to go in his career, it seems like the North London side have seen promising signs from the youngster to bet on him.
