Tottenham urged for swap deal if they want Grealish - TV commentator

Tottenham Hotspur would have to attempt a swap deal if they are serious about signing Jack Grealish from Manchester City, says Ian Darke.

Spurs were rumoured to be interested in a move for Grealish but Daniel Levy would have reservations over the finances that would be involved [GIVEMESPORT, 11 November].

TV commentator Darke admits £100million man Grealish would be a “good fit”, but says James Maddison’s presence in Ange Postecoglou’s squad would diminish any real chance of a move materialising.

“They’ve got Maddison. Why would they want to sign Grealish?,” he exclusively told Tottenham News.

“The only way that could ever happen was if there was a swap deal on the cards whereby Maddison was fancied by someone else more than Postecoglou. It seems like pure speculation.

“But you could imagine Grealish as a good fit for Tottenham – however, it’s a flyer at the moment.”

Grealish would be considered to be a terrific arrival for most of world football, given his decoration with Manchester City and his recent return as an England international.

Many quarters however cannot see this one getting too far off the ground, despite Grealish having only started four times in the Premier League this term – coupled with how Maddison has recently performed.

The 29-year-old has been a bit-part player for Pep Guardiola either side of a recent injury absence, but did play 90 minutes as the side passed up a three-goal Champions League lead to draw with Feyenoord at the Etihad Stadium.
