Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur certainly caused a bit of concern when was involved in a collision at a corner against Leicester City.
Ange Postecoglou decided to pair Bentancur with Pape Matar Sarr in midfield following the club’s decision to suspend Yves Bissouma for this off-the-pitch conduct.
Tottenham may have been tempted to deploy Archie Gray in the middle, but Postecoglou went with Bentancur, who deserved his chance following the level of his performance against Bayern Munich.
However, Bentancur’s evening was cut short when he required Gray to enter the field as a concussion substitute.
Gray came on alongside Lucas Bergvall who also made his Premier League debut for Tottenham in the 1-1 draw.
Fortunately, for Spurs fans concerned about Bentancur’s condition after the game, Sky Sports’ Daniel Craig provided a reassuring update live on air towards the end of the game.
Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur up and talking following head injury
Craig said he had just spoken to the Tottenham team doctor who had just left the dressing room, where Bentancur was being treated.
The presenter said that Bentancur was ‘up and talking’ but will be monitored in line with concussion protocols.
Craig shared: “Good news from the Tottenham team doctor who has just come out of the dressing room is that Rodrigo Bentancur is up and talking.
“He will be monitored in line with concussion protocols but he is up and talking.”

Of course, that is incredibly reassuring news given Bentancur did go down in alarming fashion, evidently causing concern among the Tottenham players standing close by.
But hopefully the Uruguayan will now make a swift return to action, hoping to embark on a successful season under Postecoglou’s stewardship.
James Maddison delivers masterclass on King Power return
Among the good performances for Tottenham in the 1-1 draw, James Maddison really stood out.
Gary Neville was stunned by Pedro Porro’s goal for Tottenham, amazed by the full-back’s advanced positioning once again.
But the same bewilderment could easily be sent in Maddison’s direction, who provided an incredibly impressive assist.
Postecoglou said Tottenham had a specific plan for Maddison in pre-season, given the England midfielder was hampered by an ankle injury last season.
And on Monday’s evidence, those efforts are already paying dividends.
