Thomas Frank to Tottenham on cards as Brentford exit stance emerges

Tottenham are the preferred potential landing spot for Brentford boss Thomas Frank, TEAMtalk reports.

According to the news outlet’s website [13 December], West Ham United have the German on their shortlist to potentially replace Julen Lopetegui but he is more tempted by the prospect of succeeding Ange Postecoglou.

Daniel Levy is expected to make a decision on Postecoglou this week as the pressure grows in North London following the 1-1 draw against Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday [12 December].

Postecoglou’s scathing assessment of Timo Werner’s efforts for Tottenham at Ibrox perfectly summed up the atmosphere in North London.

The Australian is properly under the cosh for the first time in his Spurs tenure and is struggling for air.

Levy is a notoriously unforgiving figure, and the relative success of Postecoglou’s maiden year in North London proves to be his downfall – he must live up to his own high standards.

Indeed, Spurs have struggled with injuries this year, but the boss is the maker of his own demise and needlessly rushed Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero back into action for the 4-3 loss against Chelsea, who both had to be removed on the day.

Should Tottenham pull the trigger on Postecoglou, there is no better option within the Premier League than the “excellent” Brentford boss.

Frank has worked wonders in West London with Brentford, all while working with limited funds.

The challenge across the capital at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium would be a significant step up for the German, but one is well-positioned to take in his stride.

However, Postecoglou remains at the helm, and the pressure will be on now more than ever, with a tailor-made replacement waiting in the wings.
