Philippe Clement may be partly at fault for the substantial injury woes faced by Oscar Cortes since joining Rangers, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that the Belgian appears to have put him into certain high-risk situations, increasing the chances of him facing issues with his fitness.
This comes after One Football reported on 8 October that the manager opted to play the Colombian on Kilmarnock’s surface when he decided to protect Kemar Roofe from it.
Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:
“He’s a player who clearly has a substantial injury history and it can be difficult to get out of injury cycles, particularly during the season, because previous injury leads to greater injury risk combined with big dents in fitness and confidence which leads to further injuries.
“A vicious cycle.
“As for advice on how to manage, I’m rarely one to give that because there are so many variables we don’t know but based on what I’m reading, it seems like the player has been put into certain situations by the manager that may have been higher risk so avoiding that could be a piece of the puzzle.“
Oscar Cortes has had a rotten luck with injuries since joining Rangers
Last season, the 20-year-old managed to make just six league appearances for the club since joining in January and faced injury woes as well.
This time around, he’s played just 95 minutes of league football and is facing another spell on the sidelines.
Hopefully, the club find a way to manage his workload so that he does not suffer so many setbacks.
In other Rangers news, an ex-player has issued an update on his potential return to the club and has already spoken to the current first-team squad.
