Everton cannot allow Youssef Chermiti to exit Goodison Park on loan in January.

The striker is currently sidelined due to an injury he sustained in the Toffees’ pre-season campaign and therefore hasn’t featured for Sean Dyche’s first team this term.

Chermiti found himself in decent form in Everton’s pre-season camps and was even being mooted to become second in command behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin this season.

His injury stopped this, however, and despite the striker’s lack of action on the pitch, rumours are still being mooted about the attacker’s future.

In a report from TEAMtalk (23 October), the online outlet claims that the Portuguese youth international could find himself shipped off in the January transfer window if deadline day arrival Armando Broja lives up to what’s expected of him.

While regular first-team football is likely what the 20-year-old needs at this stage of his career, if Everton suffer injuries to players such as Calvert-Lewin or Beto, even with Broja in their ranks, they’ll still be left in a bit of a pickle.

Upon Chermiti’s return form injury, its likely that it’ll take some time for the striker to be fully integrated into Dyche’s squad.

Broja will have likely been in and around the first team for a decent amount of time when he returns to full fitness so he’d first have to get into Dyche’s good books in training.

While Calvert-Lewin’s goalscoring form has been below-par this term, when he doesn’t play, it’s clear how much worse Everton are without him.

Broja and Beto could potentially put a shift in but if any of the three get injured, the Toffees will find themselves back at square one.

Of course, these are all just rumours at the moment but even just the thought of the striker leaving is one that makes little sense, and would be a massive gamble on the part of Kevin Thelwell.

Only time will tell what the future holds for Everton and Chermiti but realistically, Dyche should be doing everything in his power to keep him within the Toffees’ ranks, rather than trying to ship him off.
