Everton have already been busy in the transfer window and there is an expectation that the last month of the summer may be quieter at Goodison Park.

Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell have managed to strengthen the Blues ranks all over the pitch whilst also keeping the majority of their most promising talents on Merseyside.

There is a belief among supporters that the Toffees may still be slightly short of firepower, particularly given the uncertainty around Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s future as he enters the final year of his contract.

On top of that, Youseff Chermiti is now set for a spell on the sidelines having undergone surgery on a foot injury which may mean that the Blues are left with only Beto and Neal Maupay as their first-team forward options.

Reports have suggested that the Blues want to sell the Frenchman before the transfer window slams shut and they are even understood to be actively looking for buyers to take him off of their hands [Harry Watkinson, 1 August].

Should any of Everton’s strikers depart in the coming weeks, Thelwell and Dyche will look to replace them sooner rather than later, but new pre-season developments could save the Toffees millions of pounds.

Will Neal Maupay exit Everton after Sean Dyche transfer update?

Maupay scored twice in a pre-season friendly for the Blues on Tuesday [Everton, 6 August] as the Toffees ran out 6-0 winners over Motherwell as their preparations for the new campaign continue.

Partner that with the fact the 27-year-old managed to score six goals and lay on three assists in the Premier League while on loan with Brentford last term and it shows that he still has something to offer at Goodison.

He may not be the most popular figure among supporters given his antics both off and on the field, but if he keeps scoring in the lead-up to the new season and the end of the transfer window, perhaps the Blues will keep him around.

With money tight on the blue half of Merseyside, Thelwell and Dyche may feel that they can save millions on a new centre-forward and instead offer Maupay another chance to prove his worth.

Alternatively, his good form over the last 12 months or so could be enough to tempt another Premier League club into securing his signature for a reasonable fee.
