Tottenham and Amanda Staveley may have non-disclosure agreements over the latter’s bid to buy a minority stake in the club, according to The Athletic.

It has been three months since Bloomberg (July 18) reported that Staveley is considering an investment in Spurs after leaving Newcastle, having raised £500million in funding.

There has since been talk about the British financier’s arrival at Tottenham which received more attention after she was spotted at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the NFL match between Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears on 13 October.

While fans and pundits have speculated that a takeover might be in the pipeline, there is yet to be a concrete update, with Tottenham and Staveley remaining coy.

The Athletic reports via its website (Wednesday, 23 October) that sources have hinted at the presence of non-disclosures between the parties involved, although there is also some scepticism about Staveley’s interest.

Non-disclosure agreements between Tottenham and Amanda Staveley make sense

While the existence of non-disclosure agreements is not confirmed, it would make sense for them to be in place considering Staveley’s past.

She brokered the Saudi-backed Public Investment Fund takeover of Newcastle in 2021 and this came with a lot of media attention due to questions over Saudi Arabia’s human rights record.

This came after Staveley initially tried to buy the Magpies in 2017 and all those developments garnered attention from fans and the media.

She is not worried about being in the media spotlight, but in hindsight, she might have wished everything played out away from the public eye.

There is no reason to believe Tottenham would be against non-disclosure agreements either as the club takes pride in the hierarchical stability they have had since ENIC’s takeover in 2000.

Daniel Levy is the Premier League’s longest-serving chairman and has built a reputation for operating discreetly.

It is no secret that Spurs are seeking investments, as revealed by Levy in April, but there have been instances in the past when such talk came to nothing.

Taking all those into account, it is better for Tottenham and Staveley to keep things under wraps until a deal is struck.
