Colin Chong is currently the chief executive at Everton in a temporary capacity and the Friedkin Group should be keen to address this.
He has been in the role since October 2023, though much of his time has been taken up by the massive project at the Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium and will likely remain at Goodison Park for the foreseeable future.
However, the Toffees ship is certainly not a stable one at this moment in time, with all supporters waiting for a takeover update to emerge while Sean Dyche’s men continue to struggle on the pitch.
By no means is Chong a disliked character on Merseyside, and has actually been commended for his work on the new stadium, but he cannot be the temporary CEO as the long-term solution.
That is why one of the Friedkins’ first acts as the owners of the Toffees, once the takeover from Farhad Moshiri finally goes through, should be to poach Fulham CEO Alistair Mackintosh to lead the club forward.
Everton to approach Fulham’s Alistair Mackintosh as new CEO
According to The Athletic [9 November], the Toffees have hired Nolan Partners to find a new CEO to lead the Friedkin era, with ex-Roma chief Lina Souloukou and Mackintosh being approached already.
While it is understood that the 54-year-old is settled in his job at Craven Cottage, the Friedkins should be doing everything in their power to persuade him to make the switch, rather than search for an alternative.
Since joining the Cottagers from Manchester City in 2008, Fulham reached a major European final and have become a force to be reckoned with after gaining promotion back to the Premier League in 2022.
He has also overseen a huge transition of owners in 2013 after Shahid Khan purchased the club from Mohamed Al Fayed, which would be extremely useful for the Toffees in the not-too-distant future.
The Toffees will have all of these ambitions under new ownership and Mackintosh could be the perfect figure to lead the club into the future, but it will certainly take some persuading.
In other Everton news, the Toffees will fume as the wait over their “important” points deduction decision continues, it could relegate them.
