Sean Dyche looks likely to be forced to shake up his Everton side when Newcastle United travels to Goodison Park on Saturday 5 October.

The Blues picked up their first win in the Premier League this season as a Dwight McNeil brace secured all three points in the 2-1 victory against Crystal Palace last weekend.

Unfortunately for Everton, the side are almost certain to be without Jarrad Branthwaite again as he nurses a minor injury issue [The Mirror], forcing Dyche to face an important selection dilemma regarding who will fill the void of the centre-back at Goodison Park.

Jake O’Brien expected to start first Premier League match for Everton

Jordan Pickford should resume his duties between the sticks for the Blues and will be tested to the limit against the Newcastle attack featuring former teammate Anthony Gordon who is in fine form for the visitors.

Ashley Young started last time out but should be removed from the lineup in place of James Garner, the 39-year-old has proven a liability at times for Everton this season and would struggle up against the pace of Gordon.

James Tarkowski is expected to continue in the defence, Jake O’Brien should fill the void left by Branthwaite despite Dyche opting to start Michael Keane at the start of the season with Vitalii Mykolenko resuming his role at left-back.

Abdoulaye Doucoure and Orel Mangala have formed a strong partnership in the midfield pivot having replaced Idrissa Gueye and Tim Iroegbunam. The pair have started the last two matches in central midfield and are expected to continue their partnership against Newcastle.

Jasper Lindstrom has been the subject of intense criticism for his performances at Goodison Park this season, Dyche will be expected to remove the Danish forward from the firing line and reinstate Jack Harrison to the starting lineup.

Dwight McNeil, on the other hand, rightfully earned his plaudits for his standout performances, particularly his brace against Crystal Palace, and should complete the trio of attacking midfielders for Everton with Iliman Ndiaye starting on the left flank.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin should lead the line for the Toffees, he will be backed to find himself among the goals at Goodison Park and his place under Dyche should be safe for the foreseeable future until Armando Broja returns from injury.
