Rangers have embarrassed themselves after the 2-0 win in the Scottish League Cup against St Johnstone on Saturday 17 August.

With Hampden Park not exactly packed, goals from Cyriel Dessers and Ross McCausland sent the lacklustre Gers into the quarter-finals.

Despite that, the players were seen bouncing with the fans in a line, rather than clapping them and getting straight back down to business.

Premier Sports shared the footage on their official X account following the game, and the comments were packed with fans simply cringing.

After a dreadful week of being knocked out of the Champions League by a very poor Dynamo Kyiv side, this is the last thing people need to be seeing.

What happened to the Rangers that finished the season as invincible only a few years ago, would they be celebrating an early League Cup win like this?

It shows exactly where Philippe Clement and his squad are right now, and although some of this has been forced on them by the board, it is still embarrassing.

Hopefully, we can see similar scenes at Hampden Park later in the season and actually lift these pieces of silverware, but until then, it has to be all business.

With two weeks of “hectic” transfer action left [Chris Jack], the squad should look much better at the start of September, with new signings definitely needed to be lifting these trophies.
