After a triumphant win against Manchester City on Saturday, Tottenham will be looking to pick up their form on a consistent level going forward.
The Lilywhites put on an impressive display at The Etihad and deservedly came away 4-0 winners.
However, whilst there were plenty of positives for Spurs, if they are looking to progress then some members of the squad will have to show their ability to produce more well-rounded performances.
Tottenham need more from Radu Dragusin and Brennan Johnson
With a clean sheet and a goal between them, you would think that the pair would be safe from any criticism this weekend but the reality is that to achieve that consistency that is being craved at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, these are two players who have possibly been coasting.
A poor start to the season for Dragusin has led to questions surrounding his future before now, with reports linking him with a move to Juventus [La Gazzetta dello Sport].
Nevertheless, the 22-year-old showed a solid defensive display yesterday and played well in what was only his fifth start of the season with three blocks, four clearances and one interception on an evening that wasn’t the busiest [Fotmob].
However, with only 20% long ball passing accuracy and three passes into the final third in the 90 minutes, this shows that there is more to be contributed when it comes to helping his side out at the other end of the pitch.
One man who did contribute at the other end was Johnson who topped off the evening by scoring in the 93rd minute after coming on as a substitute in the 63rd minute.
However, there have been questions over the effectiveness of the 23-year-old this season and he didn’t contribute as much as he could have in the 30 minutes he played. He only had 11 touches of the ball in total, three of which were in the opposition’s box and made just three passes [Fotmob].
These stats show why questions are being asked about whether the attacker is fulfilling his potential at the club.
While this was a great result for the Lilywhites, what is certain is that Ange Postecoglou’s men need to produce the same high levels of performance going forward if they are going to have success this year and that means they can’t afford to be carrying players in the squad.
In other Tottenham news, Jude Bellingham had this to say about what he saw of one Tottenham player v Manchester City.
