Vincent Kompany now wants to bring talent Man City lost for just £90,000 to Bayern Munich - journalist
????
Vincent Kompany is a Manchester City legend.
The Belgian won four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and four League Cups during his time as captain of the Citizens – making 360 appearances in total.
Throughout that period, the man born in Uccle watched many talents develop at the Etihad Stadium, including a young forward by the name of Jamie Gittens – who Manchester City sadly lost to Borussia Dortmund in 2020.
Now – as Vincent Kompany holds the reins as manager of Bayern Munich – he is looking to bring the talented Englishman to the Allianz Arena.
Bayern Munich want Jamie Gittens
Florian Plettenburg of Sky Germany now claims that Bayern Munich are keen to sign Gittens from Borussia Dortmund.
The respected journalist wrote on X (previously known as Twitter): “FC Bayern are keen on Jamie Gittens. The 20-year-old top talent from Borussia Dortmund is high on the club’s list for the upcoming summer. Vincent Kompany and Max Eberl are reportedly raving about him internally. His situation is being closely monitored, and Bayern have already gathered important information.
“Gittens is aware of their interest. A winter transfer is not an option for the player. In summer, it will depend on whether Bayern or teams from England make serious moves and whether he formally expresses a desire to leave Borussia Dortmund.”
The England U21 international has been a sensation in the 2024/25 campaign so far, scoring nine goals while also providing four assists across 23 appearances.
TBR Football understand Liverpool and Arsenal also admire Gittens after his breakthrough at the Signal Iduna Park.
How Manchester City lost Jamie Gittens
Borussia Dortmund took Jadon Sancho from Manchester City in 2017, and the German giants clearly continued to sniff around the City Football Academy.
In 2020, Borussia Dortmund pounced to take Gittens from the Citizens, paying a mere £74,900 compensation fee for the Reading-born wonderkid when his contract ended.
Now, Gittens is valued at over £40m and being chased by Bayern Munich.
Manchester City have already offloaded Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers in recent times – decisions that have been heavily criticised – and if the Borussia Dortmund No.43 seals a lucrative move to Bayern Munich, more questions will surely be asked.
