'We will': Guglielmo Vicario says what is going to happen in Tottenham team meeting after Arsenal defeat

Whilst Guglielmo Vicario has proven to be an excellent shot-stopper since his arrival at Tottenham Hotspur, the keeper’s worth has been undermined by his presence at set-pieces.

Sunday’s shortcoming against Arsenal was sadly a familiar tale for Vicario, who can’t seem to quite get it right when Tottenham are defending corners in particular.

Vicario came and flapped at an Arsenal corner in the first half of the 1-0 defeat, and then decided to stick to his line when Spurs’ rivals scored, perhaps deterred by his earlier mistake.

Either way, it’s something Tottenham need to sort as soon as possible, and if the Italian isn’t able to improve then Ange Postecoglou may need to go to the transfer market once again.

Guglielmo Vicario suggests he may not be at fault for Arsenal’s winner

Interestingly, Vicario did speak candidly about the goal Tottenham conceded via Spurs’ X account shortly after the game.

Vicario perhaps pointed some blame towards Cristian Romero for the goal, saying that Gabriel was ‘a little bit’ free, not necessarily recognising his own role in the goal immediately.

He said: “It’s tough to find a solution. It’s a good delivery. Maybe Gabriel is a little bit free to head it and to put it in the net. We will look.

“In our meeting we will try to analyse and fix it and do better. It’s tough because in these games small details can change the result and outcome of the games.”

Of course, many Tottenham fans may feel as if the solution is fairly simple – Vicario simply needs to make better decisions and command his box from set-pieces.

Dominic Solanke lacking sharpness for Tottenham

It wasn’t just Vicario who could have improved against Arsenal – Postecoglou also watched several other players underwhelm.

Paul Merson was unimpressed with James Maddison, believing that he’s not quite doing enough right now.

New record-signing Dominic Solanke also didn’t take his opportunity to really ignite his Spurs’ career after a short injury.

The England striker has only played 180 minutes in a Tottenham shirt in fairness, but he’ll be disappointed not to have scored just yet.

That being said, Postecoglou shared his honest thoughts on Solanke’s display shortly after the North London derby.
