Wenham backs Tottenham to beat Bayern Munich & PSG to 'Exciting' new transfer

John Wenham has suggested that Tottenham could sign Rennes ace Désiré Doué ahead of Bayern Munich and PSG.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose believes the forward would be an “exciting” addition to the club.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano via X (19 July), Doué will decide on his future club soon, with the player taking his time to consider the projects at both Bayern Munich and PSG.

It has been reported that Spurs have “gone cold” in the race for Doué (via Fabrizio Romano, 16 July).

However, Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has backed the club to rekindle their interest in the player.

“I think this signing would fit in with the obvious strategy at the club of signing the most exciting young talent around,” Wenham said.

“The likes of Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall have been signed, and Doué would add to that list.

“He is heavily linked to Munich and PSG. However, to Spurs’ credit, so was Luka Vušković, and so was Radu Drăgușin.

“They managed to do those deals and convince the players that they were the club to join, so why can’t they do it again?”

Spurs have demonstrated in recent times that they can attract some of the best young players around.

The likes of Bergvall, Gray, and pre-agreed signing Vušković were all linked with some of European football’s biggest clubs.

Drăgușin was also very close to a move to Munich before joining Spurs.

However, Ange Postecoglou’s side won the transfer battles for all of those players. Therefore, if they were to once again make an approach for Doué, it wouldn’t be wise to rule them out.

With the young forward still taking his time to decide where his future lies, it is now or never for Daniel Levy to throw Spurs’ hat in the ring.
