John Wenham expects Yves Bissouma to return to the Tottenham first-team against Everton on Saturday (24 August).
The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose believes the 27-year-old will be called upon to replace Rodrigo Bentancur.
It comes after Bentancur suffered a head injury during the 1-1 draw with Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Monday (19 August). Concussion protocols mean the Uruguay international is almost certain to be absent against the Toffees (via The Standard, 23 August).
And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – feels that Bissouma could return to the team following his club-imposed one-match suspension after a video emerged which appeared to show the midfielder inhaling laughing gas (via Sky Sports News, 15 August).
“In terms of the line-up, I think some changes speak for themselves,” Wenham said.
“Bissouma will likely replace Bentancur in the middle of the park. He has now served his one-match suspension and Bentancur isn’t likely to be available.
“That change therefore makes sense. I know Brennan Johnson has got some stick for his display against Leicester, but I still think he will start.”
Yves Bissouma to start against Everton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?
Bissouma has a lot of work to do to get back into Ange Postecoglou’s good books.
The Australian would have no doubt been fuming after his recent behaviour. As a result, he will now expect the Mali international to respond in the right way.
If Bissouma does start against the Toffees, he needs to put in a big performance.
With Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall waiting in the wings, Spurs do suddenly have other options in the middle of the park, albeit young ones.
Therefore, if Bissouma wants to build a long-term career for himself in North London, he needs to do his talking on the pitch and prove to Postecoglou once again that he can be trusted.
In other Tottenham news, surprise has emerged with Barcelona keen to sign an unwanted player in North London.
