Wenham reacts as talkSPORT pundit moots Tottenham transfer for once-phenomenal Man United star

John Wenham claims there is no chance of Tottenham signing Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose believes the 26-year-old is a “phenomenal” player who just needs a transfer to get back to his best.

It comes as Jamie O’Hara has called for Tottenham to sign Rashford while speaking on talkSPORT (22 July).

O’Hara said, “He makes brilliant runs, but never gets the ball. Would you pay £80m for him? Yes I would, I would love to see him at Tottenham.”

However, Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has rubbished any suggestion that the North London club would move to sign the United star.

“Just look at the wages Rashford is on,” Wenham said.

“Tottenham just simply are not going to pay that. I don’t think that speculation is worth commenting any further on. O’Hara is vocal, I’ll give him that, but this isn’t going to happen.

“However, I do think Rashford is a much better player than we are seeing, I think he just needs a move to kickstart his career.

“It was only a couple of years ago that he was in phenomenal form and scoring all sorts of long-range goals.”

O’Hara’s suggestion that Spurs should look to sign Rashford is optimistic, to say the least.

There are plenty of reasons why this transfer is completely unfeasible and would never happen. First and foremost, United would likely charge a huge premium if they were to sell Rashford to a direct rival.

That would already put some doubts in Daniel Levy’s mind, and that is before he begins negotiating a wage package with one of the Premier League’s highest earners.

To round it all off, there is no guarantee that Rashford would even entertain a move to Tottenham. This therefore appears to be a non-starter, and a bit of fantasy football in the mind of O’Hara.
