John Wenham claims Eberechi Eze will be keen to quit Crystal Palace amid interest from Tottenham after an update emerged regarding Michael Olise.
The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose feels that Palace could struggle to keep hold of the England international midfielder, who is of interest to Tottenham (via Paul O Keefe, 14 June).
It comes after Sky Sports News reported (26 June) that Olise is set to undergo a medical with Bayern Munich this week.
And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes this therefore makes Eze more likely to leave.
“Eze has got a release clause, therefore, there isn’t much Palace can do,” Wenham said.
“As a result, I don’t think Olise leaving will make it more difficult to sign Eze.
“If anything, Eze will be keener to leave Palace now. He probably sees the Olise sale as a lack of ambition from Palace.
“It shows that the club aren’t pushing on if they’re selling their other best player.”
Will Tottenham sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace?
A club selling one of their best players should mean they’re less likely to sell another star player in the same window.
However, Eze has a release clause (via Daily Mail, 7 June), which means Palace are therefore at risk of losing the 25-year-old alongside Olise.
If a club activates the clause then Eze is unlikely to refuse a move away from Selhurst Park.
Had Palace kept hold of Olise and demonstrated that they want to go up a level next season, perhaps Eze could have been convinced to stay.
However, Olise looks to be on his way out, and Eze will therefore probably be tempted to follow him.
