West Ham crisis: ‘Julen Lopetegui is next Premier League manager to be sacked’

West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui is likely to to be the next Premier League manager sacked following his unconvincing start at the London Stadium. 

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Leeds United goalkeeper Paul Robinson admitted there is a “crisis” in east London nearly every week.

Lopetegui was appointed as David Moyes’s successor on a two-year deal in May after previous spells with Porto, Spain, Real Madrid, Sevilla and Wolves.

Football Insider revealed on 20 December the Spanish boss was one game away from the sack prior to West Ham’s 1-1 draw against Brighton and 1-0 victory over Southampton on Boxing Day.

The east London club currently sit 13th in the Premier League table after falling to defeat in seven of their opening 18 games of the campaign.

Lopetegui’s side face table-topping Liverpool on Sunday (29 December) as he aims to win over his critics at the London Stadium.

Robinson believes the 58-year-old will be next to face the sack because the other under-pressure managers across the Premier League are in safer positions.

“Lopetegui could be the one to be sacked next,” Robinson told Football Insider. 

“Amorim is going nowhere, Ange is going nowhere, Oliver Glasner looks safe enough.

“I think Kieran McKenna’s got enough credit in the bank.

“Wolves and Southampton have just employed their managers.

“Lopetegui is the running favourite to be the next one sacked.

“It’s a crisis nearly every week.”
