West Ham Expert: Update on Mohammed Kudus bust-up

Mohammed Kudus has not fallen out with Julen Lopetegui despite suggestions of a bust-up at West Ham, according to the club’s former scout.

Mick Brown, who worked as a senior scout at the London Stadium until he left with David Moyes in June and remains well-connected at the club, exclusively told Football Insider that there are no issues between Kudus and Lopetegui behind the scenes.

This comes following reports of a bust-up between the pair when Kudus was withdrawn at half-time in the 1-1 draw with Brentford.

Brown explained that the 24-year-old was frustrated at the way results had been going and would have wanted to stay on the pitch to make a difference.

However, following the 4-1 win against Ipswich in which the Ghanaian winger scored, any suggestions of a dressing-room rift have seemingly been squashed.

This echoes the thoughts of former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson, who suggested to Football Insider that the issues would have been no deeper than the initial frustration.

Mohammed Kudus and Julen Lopetegui issues now over at West Ham

The reports of a dressing room bust-up have come amid speculation over Kudus’ future, but Brown revealed to Football Insider that clubs will be put off by his £85million price tag.

Now, the former Hammers scout who has also worked with top players at the likes of Man United, Tottenham and Aston Villa, explained that the winger was frustrated at being taken off, but there was no issue beyond that.

When you’re not winning matches, there are always issues,” he told Football Insider.

He’s one of those players where he’ll be electric for half an hour and then he can fade out of a game, but in that half-hour, he can win you the game.

When you’ve got players like that, it’s hard to take them off because you know they can produce something special.

That’s why he’ll be annoyed, but it won’t be anything beyond that.

“It’s just frustration at the way they’ve been playing and the results.

I certainly haven’t heard anything to suggest he’s lost the dressing room or anything like that.

Of course, if results go back to the way they were before the Ipswich game, those frustrations might become a problem, but for now it has been sorted out behind the scenes.

In other news, West Ham could sell two big-name stars in January.
